You will receive the specimen shown, or one like it.
Glenea telmissa is a small species of longhorn beetle (family Cerambycidae) native to Sulawesi, Indonesia. Though tiny compared to many of its relatives, it displays the same elegant features that make longhorn beetles so distinctive. Its body is slender and elongated, typically measuring less than 1.5 centimeters in length.
The beetle’s coloration is often a mix of metallic blue, green, or black tones, sometimes with lighter bands or patches across the wing covers (elytra). These subtle markings help it blend into the bark and foliage of its forest habitat. Like others in its genus, G. telmissa has long, fine antennae — often nearly the length of its body — which it uses to detect scents and vibrations in its surroundings.
The larvae develop inside dead wood, helping to break down and recycle plant material within the forest ecosystem. Adults are usually active during warm daylight hours, occasionally visiting flowers or resting quietly on leaves and branches. Despite its small size, Glenea telmissa represents the intricate beauty and ecological importance of Sulawesi’s tropical insect life.
