Description
Beetle, Ioesse sanguinolenta, Longhorn beetle from Malaysia.
You will receive the specimen shown, or one like it.
Ioesse sanguinolenta is a longhorn beetle (family Cerambycidae) found in Malaysia. This species is relatively large for its genus, with a slender, elongated body often reaching 3.5 to 4.5 centimeters in length. Unlike many related species, its wing covers (elytra) are smooth and unmarked, displaying a uniform reddish-orange color that gives the beetle a simple yet striking appearance.
Its long, threadlike antennae can extend beyond the length of its body, helping it sense the environment and locate mates. The larvae develop inside decaying or weakened wood, where they play an important role in breaking down forest material and recycling nutrients.
With its clean, bright coloration and elegant proportions, Ioesse sanguinolenta is a visually distinctive and ecologically significant beetle in Malaysia’s tropical forests.
