Bracelet made of Mountain Jade with 8 mm spheres.

This mineral is a red form of Jadeite, which is a variety of Jade.  The other mineral species known as Jade is Nephrite. 

From Wikipedia, " The name jadeite is derived from the Spanish phrase "piedra de ijada" which means "stone of the side". The Latin version of the name, lapis nephriticus, is the origin of the term nephrite, which is also a variety of Jade.  Nephrite in turn is derived from Greek λίθος νεφριτικός; νεφρός λίθος, which means 'kidney stone'.   Accordingly, nephrite jade was once believed to be a cure for kidney stones.
