In humans, there is a series of bones that run from the base of the skull to the coccyx (tail bone). The irregularly shaped bones form the “S-shape” of the spinal cord.

Each vertebrate species has a similarly shaped vertebrae. The biggest differences occur between land-dwelling and aquatic species because of their different movement requirements.

You will receive this specimen, or a human vertebrae similar to this, and it could be a cervical, thoracic, or lumbar specimen.
