The Giant Blue Morpho is one of the largest of the Morphos, and is found mainly in South America, Central america and Mexico. The top surfaces of the wings are iridescent and metallic blue, and the upper wings are elongated. The genus name Morpho comes from an Ancient Greek epithet μορφώ, roughly "the shapely one", for Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty.
As with most items from the natural world, this frame should be kept out of direct sunlight.
This particular specimen is housed in my traditional black shadowbox and then surrounded by a beautiful gold frame. The overall frame size is 10" x 10" x 3"
