The Vespa tropica, commonly known as the Greater Banded Hornet, is a large and powerful hornet species native to Southeast Asia, including countries like India, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Recognizable by its striking black and yellow-orange bands, Vespa tropica can grow up to 3.5–4.5 cm (1.4–1.8 inches) long, making it one of the larger hornets in its range.
