Description

Tonna galea, commonly known as the giant tun, is one of several species of marine molluscs (also known as the tun shells). This very large sea snail (or tun snail) is found in the North Atlantic Ocean as far south as the coast of West Africa, as well as the Mediterranean Sea and the Caribbean Sea. The shell of the adult Tonna galea is very large, with an average height of 6 inches. The shell is thin, but still relatively solid and durable.

This particular specimen is approximately 7 1/2 inches long, 6 1/4 inches wide and 5 1/4 inches tall.
