Nemophas batoceroides is a striking species of longhorn beetle in the family Cerambycidae, native to Timor and surrounding Indonesian islands.
Taxonomy: Nemophas batoceroides Thomson, 1864 — a species of longhorn beetle in the subfamily Lamiinae (Cerambycidae).
Distribution: Known from Indonesia, with records from Timor (and museum/collection records citing Timor localities).
Size: Specimens offered in collections and museum records are in the ~30–49 mm (3–5 cm) body-length range (different sources list males ~30–39 mm up to about 49 mm depending on the sample).
Appearance: Typically a tar-black body/elytra with a contrasting coppery to golden-brown pronotum (“collar”) .
Antennae / sexual dimorphism: Males usually have antennae that exceed the body length; females’ antennae are shorter.
